Sarah, I think you meant to say, “Many religious people are very cool and donโ€™t want creationism taught in the schools, are OK with atheists, etc.”

Thanks, Andy. Was that a Freudian slip? ๐Ÿ™‚

Contra your assertion of a growing atheism, it appears that atheists are a dying breed (see the website link provided for in the comment submission form). Secular Europeans are being outbred by Muslims (that other Abrahamic religion).

Perhaps it would be a good idea for atheists to evangelize through public schooling.

Hi Bob,
I’m very concerned about the matter you are bringing up, and I think that a growing atheist population might help solve the problem (by which I am not necessarily saying that atheists should breed to keep up with Muslims!).
It’s up to us to fight things such as Sharia law.

Hi Sarah,

On this point: “I am not necessarily saying that atheists should breed to keep up with Muslims!”

While it’s not impossible to convert a Muslim, they appear to be resistant to assimilation into Western culture. If that’s the case, wouldn’t it make sense, at least temporarily, to breed in order to keep up with the Muslims? They seem perfectly willing to use our democratic structures to enact Sharia laws. If they obtain a majority bloc, how would you argue against their enactment?

I am told that Muslims are in general a devout group of people and percentage-wise, it’s probably less likely to find an ex-Muslim than an ex-Jew or ex-Christian.
Especially in a world with an overpopulation problem, I doubt anyone would suggest, or be taken seriously, that the answer is for non-Muslims and secular Muslims to breed more.
Muslim women have something like ten kids each. Do you really think the rest of us should have that many? How could you send all those kids to college? OK, this is obviously just a thought experiment.
Yes, it is very hard to come up with a solution to the problem of extreme Islam possibly taking over… assuming it is a possibility, and I think it is. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: I hope I am wrong about this.

Welcome to Gabbin' About God, sponsored by Ace Religious Supplies, where they say, โ€œIf we don't got it, it ain't holy.โ€

Just kidding. This is Not My God, a site for the personal aspect of atheism. I'm putting together a book with that title, having already 20 interviews lined up, but I still want to hear from more of you.
I've expanded the blog to include material not related to atheism, including rants, raves, consumer issues, curmudgeonly matters and other miscellany.
